Editorial Team
How MAP’s editorial decisions are made — independently, transparently, and on the record.
Independence
MAP’s publisher certification decisions are made by its founder, independently of advertisers and investors (none have been issued yet). Commercial relationships do not alter how MAP’s automated records are generated.
Evidence-based
Every MAP record is based on what MAP can observe on a single page, and the methodology is published. MAP does not verify, score or rate content.
Revisability
A context record is a point-in-time snapshot, written when MAP observes a URL. Repeat observations of the same URL create new records; earlier records are not replaced.
Transparency
We publish our methodology and our data sources. Readers can understand exactly how MAP builds its context records.
Snapshots, not live monitoring
MAP does not monitor publishers continuously. A record is generated automatically, usually within minutes of MAP seeing a page, and shows what MAP observed at that moment — not a publisher’s current state.
No ideological filter
MAP documents the observable information environment — not ideology. A conservative outlet and a progressive outlet are documented using the same seven dimensions.
MAP is operated by its founder, who decides publisher certification applications and maintains the MAP Verified™ standard. No publisher has been certified yet. MAP’s records are generated by automated processing (see the AI Disclosure Policy) across seven observable dimensions: Origin, Attribution, Specificity, Timing, Framing, Context Change, and Information Relationships.
All MAP Verified™ records are written to a hash-chained, append-oriented ledger; corrections create additional entries rather than silently replacing prior observations (the ledger does not yet link a correction to the entry it corrects). Disputes can be raised under our Corrections Policy.
