MAP CONTEXT™

Context Analysis

What a MAP record shows about the context around one URL — and what it does not.

Context Analysis is not a separate product today. The part of it that exists is a handful of frames inside the single-URL MAP record: where the page says it came from, how it differs between repeat observations, and where it links.

Records are generated automatically, with no per-record human review. They are point-in-time snapshots. MAP does not verify, score or rate content.

WHAT EXISTS TODAY
ORIGIN

Where the page says it came from

Publisher, author and publish date, drawn from the page's metadata and structured data where available. MAP reports what is documented on the page, not whether the source is reputable.

Available · automated extraction from one URL
CONTEXT CHANGE

Differences between repeat observations

A record states how many observations of the URL MAP holds and lists any differences between them (headline, author, publish date, referenced domains, presentation pattern). A difference shows that two MAP observations differed; it does not establish that the publisher edited the page or which version is correct. A URL MAP has seen only once has nothing to compare.

Available · only for URLs observed more than once
INFORMATION RELATIONSHIPS

Outbound references

Links from the page to other domains, shown as clickable material to demonstrate how the topic connects elsewhere. MAP does not vouch for what is on the other end.

BACKGROUND

Historical background and prior coverage

Researching the events behind a story, checking its claims against the documented record, and comparing it with an outlet's other coverage are not part of MAP records. MAP does not fact-check or compare coverage.

WHO CAN USE A RECORD
📰

Journalists

See what a page's metadata and outbound links show before you cite it. A record is a description of the page, not a check of its accuracy.

🔬

Researchers

Cite a point-in-time record of what MAP extracted from a URL on the day it was observed.

📚

Educators

Use a record as an example of what can, and cannot, be observed about a web page.

💻

Developers

Request a record for a single URL through the keyed API (POST /v1/verify).
