Publisher Verification

MAP Verified™ publisher status is earned — not purchased. Publishers who meet MAP's standards receive a permanent, publicly accessible verification record and the right to display the MAP Verified badge.

Verification is conducted by MAP staff, who review each application against MAP's seven observable dimensions — Origin, Attribution, Specificity, Timing, Framing, Context Change, and Information Relationships. No commercial relationship influences the outcome.

Eligibility

Active publication — at least 90 days of continuous published content available for review

Publicly identified ownership, editorial contact, and corrections policy

Content primarily in English (international publishers: English-language section reviewed)

No active legal finding of systematic defamation or deliberate disinformation at time of application

Initial review (72 hours)

MAP staff conduct an initial eligibility review. You will be contacted if additional information is needed.

Staff review

MAP staff review a sample of your recent content against the seven observable dimensions — Origin, Attribution, Specificity, Timing, Framing, Context Change, and Information Relationships. This is a staff review, not an automated score threshold.

Certification record

Certified publishers receive a permanent, publicly accessible, searchable record on MAP's hash-chained ledger and the right to display the MAP Verified badge. Applications under review are not published; only completed certifications appear in the record.
